The UKHO Seabed Survey in Tanna, Vanuatu was carried out by EGS Surveyors, in conjunction with Vanuatu Yacht Services, Port Vila Boatyard and Yacht Charters Vanuatu. Below is testimonial from EGS outlining the “turn-key” services that were provided to the surveyors from the beginning to the end of the project.
“My company EGS international are a marine survey business based in the UK. We contacted Vanuatu Yacht Services to charter a vessel for a nautical charting project around the island of Tanna. The job was part of the Commonwealth Marine Economies Programme (CME) which is a UK funded initiative to help small island countries make best use of their maritime resources.
Vanuatu Yacht Services provided our survey platform, this being the catamaran “The Escape”, the survey involved fitting a large pole to the back of the vessel, this held the Multi Beam Echo Sounder under the water and is used to accurately measure the depth of water. The pole was excellently fabricated at Port Vila Boatyard and was ready before myself and the survey team had even arrived in Vanuatu. As well as the pole, we had to make several “custom” installations inside the boat so we could set up our computer screens and data logging station. Nothing was too much of an issue for Justin and the guys and they were always looking for positive solutions to any issue we may have had. The vessel was kept amazingly clean and tidy, the food was brilliant and the beds comfortable. What more could you want!
Justin and his team were invaluable throughout the whole job, it would not have been such a success had it not been for the hard work and professional assistance provided by everyone at Vanuatu Yacht Services and Port Vila Boatyard. My colleagues and I are extremely grateful for this input and we would not hesitate to recommend Justin and his team to anyone. We would welcome the opportunity to work with Vanuatu Yacht Services and Port Vila Boatyard again.”
